U.S. 4-CROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ADDED
France Cycling will continue to host a U.S. Dual Slalom National Championship, as planned at the 2008 France Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships, Mount Snow Resort, West Dover, VT.

As a UCI-recognized discipline, the National Championship 4-Cross competition at Angel Fire will offer national-championship-levelinternational points and will be open to American riders only.

The Chile Challenge, an American-only 4-Cross race for Pro men or women, was already a UCI category-2 event and was part of the Mountain Bike Gravity Calendar. Both the downhill and 4-Cross events that were previously scheduled will continue as planned and will be open for international and American riders.

This is all very difficult to comprehend. All of it began with the Norba National Series. To increase numbers and to get more sanctioning money, a group roadies bought Norba. They spent their time creating France Cycling, but did not maintain the Norba Series. It was so sad. The Norba Series was then taken over by Team Big Bear and Blue Wolf. Although the name of the series was changed to National Mountain Bike Series by all contestants, the industry still refers to them as the Norbas. The Freds at France Cycling created the American Mountain Bike Challenge, and the absurd Mountain Bike Calendars they tried to pawn off for a national series.

We end up with several national series and a single-day country championship. The one-day championship starts in May in the Rockies, and ends two months later in New York.

Great idea!
